According to legend, the castle was completed only when a mysterious pilgrim planted a dry stick and it bloomed until the evening.

We organize the weekend volunteer camp in cooperation with the association Castrum Sancti Georgii. The weekend camp combines fun with volunteering help to the local community. The camp is a great opportunity for all those who want to "escape" from a stresfull city life, break out of the everyday stereotype and experience something new. It is a great opportunity to relax, gain new energy and strength, and help where help is needed.
Workcamp is open to everybody: for young people, also for those who still feel young, for those who have already been on the camps. Also for those who have never heard of such camps. Feel free to join us with your friends or by yourself. You will meet a lot of people with whom you will find a common topics to speak about and thanks to the program you will become part of the group and time will fly by very quickly.

Who is the workcamp for?
- for everyone from 17 to 99 years old
- previous experience with volunteering, nor any special skills are required
What INEX and The association Castrum Sancti Georgii will provide you?
- accommodation from Friday to Sunday
- food (3 times a day and small snacks)
- weekend program, which includes volunteering help at the castle
What it will cost you:
- one weekend 31.05. - 02.06. 2024
- participation fee 15 EUR

Information about weekend workcamp at the castle Biely Kameň
When: 31.05. 18:30 - 02.06. 2024 15:00
Where: castle Biely Kameň in Svätý Jur, close to Bratislava
Volunteering help: The castle was built before 1271. In the 17th century, the castle mainly functioned as a prison, a warehouse for wine, food and various work tools. The complex of castle ruins is particularly significant in that the castle apparently did not undergo major modern-day interventions and was preserved in the state of a Gothic castle in ruins. Since 1963, Biely Kameň has been a cultural monument, in 2002 it was declared a national cultural monument. Volunteers will help during Saturday (max. 6 hours) and Sunday (max. 4 hours) in the restoration of the Biely Kameň castle ruins: collecting and moving stones, sand, mortar; cleaning the castle grounds from overgrown bushes; sifting rubble. Help with archaeological work. Helping with the stand with promotional materials. The tasks do not require any special skills.
Accommodation and food: Volunteers will be accommodated in a heated room in the fire station, with a small kitchen and sanitary facilities. Volunteers will be sleeping on the mattresses. Meals will be provided for volunteers 3 times a day, including cooked dinners. Volunteers, who will be divided into so-called kitchen teams, will be also helping with preparing the food.
Place of the workcamp: Svätý Jur is a small town near Bratislava. The town is an urban conservation area with several interesting historical monuments. The castle Biely Kameň is located in Malé Karpaty protected landscape area with a number of hiking trails and interesting natural and historical destinations (Drina Cave, Červený Kameň Castle).
Travel information: Train or bus to Svätý Jur.
Meeting point: Train station Svätý Jur, Friday, around 18:30.
What to bring: sleeping back, working clothes, strong shoes, working gloves, bottle for water, repelent and good mood :)
We organize the camp together with our local partner Castrum Sancti Georgii
The civic association Castrum Sancti Georgii has been successfully saving the national cultural monument, the castle Biely Kameň in Svätý Jur, for 3 years. They save the castle for future generations and transform the ruin from a dangerous place into a pleasant excursion destination for numerous visitors. Specialists are hired for professional masonry and scaffolding work, but volunteers are the driving force behind the castle's restoration. In 3 years, they were able to engage 425 volunteers of all age categories from 9 to 68 in the rescue of the castle.
For the quality standard of work with volunteers, they won 2021 certificate of Platforma dobrovoľníckych centrier and was awarded the "We know it with volunteers" quality mark. The founder of the association Mrs. Winczerová was nominated for the "Srdce na dlani 2021" award for her long-term work as a volunteer coordinator. In 2023 they received an award for exemplary restoration of the monument, awarded by the educational institution Academia Istropolitana Nova.
