INEX Messenger

INEX Messenger is a project carried out since 2009. Its aim is to spread information about current topics of modern society in interesting way for young people not only from Slovakia. Each year there is new topic according to it one to two volunteers from abroad (INEX Messengers) prepare together with INEX members games, presentation and other interactive activities for young people. Later “Messengers” bring these activities to the International volunteer workcamps in Slovakia. To the activities in the workcamps are involved not only volunteers from Slovakia and abroad but also local people.

In 2010 Marie (20) from France became INEX-Messenger. She prepared activities for the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. Activities consisted of two parts. During the theoretical part young people learnt about the perception of poverty and its impact through a short presentation. During the practical part participants had the opportunity to test the life of poor resident of developing country who lives by making Fair Trade paper bracelets, necklaces and frames. Marie gave to the participants only glue, skewers and rubber bands. Volunteers had a task to find paper by themselves. Participants earned 50 cents for each finished product. Next day volunteers had a lunch for earned money. Some groups were good and had a good lunch but some weren’t so successful and had only a simple soup. This activity was more than a game since it took place during the everyday life of participants in workcamps. It gave them an opportunity to feel for a while life of people dependent on such production.

The project was carried out in several places in Slovakia where took place International volunteer workcamps in 2010 - Bratislava, Ivanka pri Danube Zlatno, Velky Saris, Brekov, Kamenica, Senne, Sklabiňa, Domaša Kremnica and Banská Štiavnica.

INEX Messenger is a form of experiential and interesting way of education of young people. It may approximate current issues of society to youth in different way. The project is implemented by young people for young people. That is why „messengers“ know how to represent topic in better way for their peers.

 Out loud about volunteering

The project aims to raise awareness of volunteering that is why we want to speak "loud about volunteering" with young people. During the project we plan to implement interactive presentations at secondary schools where we will inform young people about opportunities to volunteering. Also we want to advertise volunteering at the local level while organising International voluntary projects in various localities in Slovakia and particular Day of Volunteering on these projects. We plan to organise Great days of volunteering in cooperation with young leaders. The aim of these meetings is to culminate discussion about volunteering among young people and to encourage youth to become involved in volunteering.

We want to focus on the collection and dissemination of good experience in volunteering at home and abroad and to create a guideline as well. The target group of our project is young people - high school students and local youth - among which we want to spread awareness about volunteering. The project also aims to volunteers of our association involved in international volunteer projects, youth organisations and their staff.

"Against unvoluntary poverty by Voluntary work"

The idea of the project "Against unvoluntary poverty by voluntary work" is to address group of young people and create conditions for an independent critical thinking and taking an own, unique approach to the issue of the poverty, the social exclusion among young people due to poverty and individual responsibility for the level of poverty of others. Our aim was to spread and enrich the knowledge about poverty and social exclusion and support voluntary activities which are one of the possibilities of prevention of presnece of boht problems. The issue of poverty is in present society 

The issue of the poverty has become the global crisis in today's society still more current, but few young people are thinking about this issue or understand. We think it is necessary to reach the younger generation, to improve their awareness and thereby contribute to their personal growth and development. The question of the poverty is very complex and susceptible to every one of us.

The output of the project is an educational tool, based on the principle of a learning by experiences. This method give young people an stimule to own critical thinking, in particular to review the social isolation of this phenomenon. Poverty has many meanings and forms, and our intention is to specify the poverty and social exclusion through everyday human behavior and its impact.
