“FLYING THE FLAG FOR VOLUNTEERING AROUND THE WORLD”

"Flying the Flag for Volunteering around the World" is the motto of the campaign the Alliance Flag Tour. The international voluntary network the Alliance and INEX Slovakia celebrate the European Year of Volunteering and the 10^th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteering via campaign Flag Tour which will visit 26 countries all around the world. 

The Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations (further Alliance), an international non-governmental youth organisation promoting intercultural education, understanding and peace through voluntary service, supports this year’s anniversary of volunteering through a worldwide Alliance Flag Tour campaign.

During this campaign, 36 voluntary service organisations from 26 countries, celebrate the valuable contribution the voluntary service has on society, communities and individuals.
With two flags travelling through four continents starting on the 4^th March in Armenia during the Technical Meeting of the Alliance and ending in November in the UK at the General Assembly of the Alliance, the Alliance Flag Tour raises awareness and the profile of the European Year of Volunteering 2011 and the International Year of Volunteers +10 while encouraging active involvement of people within civil society.

INEX Slovakia is joining the campaign. The flag will travel around Slovakia from the 1^st August to the 10^th August and will visit International Voluntary Workcamps in the Hanigovce castle, the Brekov castle, the bird reservation in Senne, the Sklabiňa castle and the Kamenica castle. One event of the Flag Tour campaign will be organized in the morning on the 5^th August in Bratislava. The volunteers will help to clean the area of the organisation Brana do života (the Gate to the life) in Petržalke. Everybody with interest to help, get to know more about volunteering and support campaign is more than welcome from 10:00 to 12:00.

Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations was founded in 1982 and is presently made up of 47 member organisations in Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, Russian Federation, Serbia, the Slovak Republic, South Korea, Spain (Spain and Catalonia), Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Each organisation runs an annual programme of International Volunteer Projects in their own country and exchanges volunteers with each other to create an international group of volunteer workers on each project. This campaign strengthens the partnership of the Alliance and the European Voluntary Service Organisations to empower meaningful community volunteering.

The campaign will visit Slovakia on 1st - 10th Augusta 2011. Several events will be organized on the International Voluntary Workcamps in Slovakia during the visit of the flag in our country. More information about the workcamps in Slovakia at  http://www.inex.sk/workcampy.

You can visit afternoon event organized together with the Feast of culture during above metioned dates in our workcamps. Everybody is more than welcomed. Come and join the campaign, meet the volunteers from all around the world, taste their national food, get to know more about their culture, country and about the voluntary service.

5.august 2011 - Flag tour voluntary activity from 10:00 to 12:00 in Bratislava

Come, join and help with cleaning of the area of the organisation Brana do zivota (the Gate to the life). The Organisation was established as the initiative of Ms Maria Prielozna on 23.February 2000. Her idea was to an ensure colorful life, love and security for as much abandoned, or otherwise stigmatized children as is possible. She represented this idea on the opening of the crisis center the Gate to the life in Petrzalka on 1.March 2001. More information at: http://www.branadozivota.sk/.
