"Open your Eyes"
Project status: Approved, Volunteers have been chosen, we will look for the next 2 volunteers during July - August 2012 (for the period February - December 2013)
Project duration: February 2012 – December 2012
Project description: EVS volunteers will organize various events, workshops and free-time activities through the methods of non-formal education for young people as well as participate in creating training for young community leaders of voluntary workcamps. The volunteers will also have the possibility and mentoring in order to organize their own projects that will among other focus on intercultural aspects, promote volunteering as meaningful way of spending free time and work with young people with social and health disadvantages, motivate young people to tak part in youth mobility, promote voluntary service in general and inform young people about the EVS and the Programme Youth in Action; and others.
Considering the year 2011 is the European Year of Volunteering, we would also like the EVS volunteers to actively contribute to the propagation of volunteering for young people at high schools and universities. This would involve the volunteers travelling around Slovakia and visiting various schools and talking about volunteering to young people.
The EVS project will be a valued experience for the volunteers as they will be able to organize their own projects, events or free-time activities through the means of non-formal education and will be able to challenge prejudices.
European voluntary service is supported by Youth in Action Program.
