Tanabata Action
INEX has joined the Tanabata Action since its beginning in 2008. Tanabata action is an global action to prevent climate change by practical actions to decrease green gas emissions; to raise awareness for climate change and also, to recognition on international voluntary service; and to strengthen links and solidarity among NGOs and people for the common global issues. The Tanabata Action will be organized during the workcamps in Slovakia.
The campaing was created and is coordinating by Japanesse organisation NICE Japan.
Who can join the campaing: several voluntary and other organisation s around the world. 100 000 people from 30 countries joined the campaing last year.
What to do during the Tanabata Action:
It can be seedlings, seeds/ acorns or branches of native species. If it is difficult to do planting, it can be alternative actions to prevent global warming such as stopping use of electricity for a day, using bicycles for a day, etc.) Participants should also write “my action” on Tanzaku papers to achieve “50% decrease of global green gas emission by 2050”, on Tanzaku papers (to be collected by the Local Partners and then, National Partners). If they want to keep the ones with them, they can write the same contents on two papers.

All the Tanzaku papers will be sent to Japan to organisation NICE Japan. Some of which were exhibited to the top leaders of the G8 Summit in Japan, UNESCO Head quarter in France and many other international conferences.
Tanabata is an old Japanese custom coming from old romantic story …:
... where people write their own wishes such as “Health for the family”, “A more peaceful world!!” and hang them on a bamboo branch, in the evening of the 7th July. This is based on the romantic, old tale that a couple loved each other too much to work, so God got angry and made them two stars separated by the milky way, but allowed them to meet on that day in a year.
"Feast of cultures"

We started to organized the Feat of cultures at 2008. The aim is to bring the voluntarism and the work of the volunteers in the localities of the camps in Slovakia. We would like to achieve also the recognition of the work of the camp by the way of the promotion of the voluntarism and the cultures.
We want that the people in the regions of Slovakia get to know about the other cultures and traditions. We would like to achieve this by presentation of the national food and short presentation about the home of the volunteers.
The Feast of cultures are organized during International Voluntary workcamps. It is one afternoon event organized by the group of foreing volunteers which will take part on the workcamp. Their task is to prepare small setup (which will become one big cultural feast :)) for local people of the place of workcamp. The volunteers usually bring from home special ingredients or spice for the preparation their own national food (for example the reindeer meat from Finland, ingrediences for sushi from Japan etc.).
The volunteers prepare also shor presentation about thei country, culture, customs etc. beside a great food from around the world. They often bring an example of their national songs, games ... (special Korean whistle, origami from Japan ...) which the visitors on the Feast could try.
The Feast of cultures is very nice event enjoyed by the volunteers and the local people from all around Slovakia.
Sustainability campaing
Workcamps can play an important role to reach some of the strategic objectives of the Sustainability Development and it could be good example of the Best practise for the volutneers but also for the locality of your camp. Also they could help to build a relationship between different communities and their enviroment. In addition you can achive real change also in the global point of vieľw by taking care for small daily things. The philosophy of the campaing is to leave the worls in the best condition for the next generations.
There is several way how to practise the sustainability campaing on the camps. It is possible to live ecological on each camp in Slovakia.
