“ … INEX is … a great community, just come once …” the quotation of one active volunteer as a respond to the question: “What is INEX?”
INEX Slovakia is a non-profit NGO (non-governmental organization) of young people with global field of activity. The main purpose of our organization is active participation in international voluntary actions, programs of youth exchange via international exchange network:
Since 1993, INEX is a member of Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organizations. This Alliance includes 42 member organizations of Europe and a few spectators from America and Asia. Several times throughout the year, INEX organizes international meetings for its members also inviting interested persons from another countries or structures. The aim of these activities is to build up a mutual co-operation of these organizations, to introduce the new trends and programs of youth exchange, or to inform about the brand new types of support for these activities from the various European structures. Since 2004, holding the function of vice-president for external relations, INEX is a member of executive committee of Alliance.
Besides that, INEX Slovakia is an official partner of international network Service Civil International (SCI).
INEX also co-operates with organizations of Youth Action for Peace (YAP) network.
The above-mentioned co-operation with these organizations has mostly the form organizing and participation in International Voluntary Workcamp (later only IVW). IVW are (usually) for the people between 18 and 35. However, in our offer, there are present also workcamps for the high-school students. They provide the participants the possibility of traveling abroad where they, in the groups of 10 to 30, carry out the work of various character. The work is usually considered as public-beneficial such as the creation and protection of environment, restoration of historical and technical sights, or for example the building the youth centers and sometimes helping with organizing the festivals.
Inex is the only organization of this king in Slovakia.
Alongside the workcamps, which create the 70% of its activities, Inex organizes national as well as international workshops and lectures in the area of education of young people with for the future work with youth. Thanks to its volunteers, organization also disposes different pastime activities for young people:
year-round cycle of lectures and meetings for present or future leaders of workcamps in Slovakia or abroad
the participation in working groups
the participation in basic collectives
the participation in the actions of working groups
tea parties
participation in “ad hoc” voluntary actions for people/location that really needs it
infoservis about the domestic and international exchange and educational events
The action of INEX is officially supported by the Ministry of Education of Slovak Republic. Some of the projects are sponsored the European Union via Youth in action program. The activities are financially supported also by grant of foundation INTENDA 2% from taxes and contributions.
INEX Slovakia is effective within the whole country and tries to spread its activities through the volunteers and deputies in particular regions, youth information centers or other local partners.
Membership
To be a member of INEX Slovakia it is required to fill the simple application and to pay a membership of 50,- SKK. We regularly send information to all our members about workcamps and other activities of ours. Next of the advantages of being a member is a discount from the price of participating in the workcamps and in the other actions organized by INEX.
